THE ORIGINAL EARRINGS IN 12K GOLD – AS THE EARLY ITALIAN JEWELS WERE – WITH ENTWINED SNAKES AND RUBY EYES – OH MY!!!! THEY REALLY DON’T GET BETTER THAN THIS! VERY RARE PIECES – AND DATING TO C1900.
The earrings are in excellent period condition. There is a tiny split in the gold at the end of one earring where the hook is inserted – about 2mm long – which does not detract from the earrings in any way in my opinion but I wanted to mention it. They are 5 cm (2 inches) long and across. The gold tests for 12K gold. Together they weigh 11.4 grams.

Museum Quality antique Art Nouveau Etruscan Italian snake earrings in stunning large hoops. These are from the Tuscany region of Italy, probably Florence or Arezzo.   They are original early earrings.  The snakes have ruby eyes.  The earrings are 12K gold as was the tradition of the period in Italy.  They have gorgeous Etruscan detailing.  They date to c1870-1920.  Very Rare and Wonderful!

In the Victorian era the snake was the symbol of eternal love.  It has come to symbolize sexuality, rebirth and wisdom.  The jewel is from the estate of a New York aristocrat and dates to c1860-1900.
